Villas’ Island Resort

Master plan and Villas Design for a hospitality beach resort in the Middle East. The main focus was to merge open views with contemporary language, but this presented an environmental performance challenge. With every new iteration, I was able to understand the amount of direct solar gain inside each unit by creating an automated radiation analysis. As a result, we designed the Island Villas, Overwater and Presidential Villas specifying roof mitigations for the increased radiation amount.

“MoMA exhibition: Latin America in Construction: Architecture 1955-1980”.

The experience with MoMA proved the importance of establishing a fluid work flow between physical and virtual models, to deliver an exhibition piece.

In this case, the architectural survey, digital fabrication, ensemble and preparations were constantly made by consulting the central digital model.

Therefore, the production was optimized by reducing time and waste material. In other words, a digital ensemble work, considering the importance of extensively crafting a linked digital and physical model throughout the entirety of the process.

NOMI: SAFE WORKING AND LIVING ENVIRONMENT for women at risk AND SURVIVORS of human trafficking

The design carefully considers the goals of providing economic opportunities for women at risk of being victims of human trafficking. In doing so, it takes into account the aspirations of the people who will live and work here. It also integrates women’s larger inclusion in the community, and the site as events and activities that will go beyond training and agriculture.

Passive cooling strategies have been used to create building forms that create shaded courtyards and walkways that remain cool all year round, therefore, incorporating vernacular typologies as well as local materials and craft. The ‘primordial’ forms are direct expressions of responses to climate and aspire to create an environment that is familiar yet thoughtfully designed.
